A work published last month in the Journal of Clinical Medicine shows the “profound ignorance of rare respiratory diseases among pediatric professionals and medical students” in Spain. The article, in which several of the country’s leading specialists in Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficit (DAAT) have a prominent role, calls for “including relevant material in the Medicine study plan” to avoid this ignorance being translated under-diagnosed.
